Mary, The Madonna, Art Deco Painting for Today

Queen of Mercy And Love

"The worship of Mary transformed Catholicism from a religion of terror - perhaps necessary in the Dark Ages--into a religion of mercy and love."

~ Will Durant

Artist: Wendy Ryan
Title: Queen of Mercy And Love
Medium: Acrylic, Gold Leaf on Canvas
Size: Size: 12 X 36 in
30 X 91 cm
Date: 2007

I remain fascinated by the devotion followers and artists to Mary, the Madonna. And of course, I am still drawn to the art of Gustave Klimt. I've used gleaming metallics, liquid gold leaf and touches of real gold leaf imported from Thailand for this large dramatic painting. I've continued with metallic gold around the staple free sides, so there is no need to frame. Your painting arrives ready to hang.
If you would like any additional information regarding this painting please feel free to email me with any questions.

And if you find more than one piece that you like, I'm always happy to combine shipping costs.

Thank you so much for stopping by

I have been reading your blog for a litte while now and I must say, your art is quite nice! However, it would be nice, perhaps even helpful to other artists' if you could expand more about your art, your technique, exhibits, the ups-n-downs of the art world (amongst other things) instead of just what seems to be a blog entry about a new painting that will be for sale on Ebay or now on Etsy. I'm just interested in a little more than what one has for sale. I apologize if this sounds "nasty" but I don't know how else to say it. I hope you'll consider what I've suggested as I do admire your talent!

Hi Christina, I do know what you mean and it was my intention when I began this blog to do exactly what you've said. But the hard reality is, I soon discovered that I'm a poor word smith indeed. And I'm usually dead tired from a day of painting when it comes time to log into this blog. Struggling with words proved to be more than I could manage. So for now at least, I'll continue to post my new work and advise where it can be purchased for those who support my work.
It's great that you're interested in more than "what one has for sale", but there are so few precious hours in the day and choices must be made.
There are artists out there who do a lovely job of telling their stories so I hope you find the insights and reflections you're looking for.
