Jean Paul Lemieaux was a Quebec artist whose brilliant treatment of the figure in a northern landscape continues to inspire me. This is a large painting done in a naive folk style. The two sisters stand against a darkening sky, their faces bear a striking resemblence, yet who seem to have traveled down different paths in life.
